LIAA is particularly committed to helping communities plan for preserving and protecting their natural resources, coastlines, wetlands, farmlands, forests, trails and waterways in an economically and sustainable way. LIAA staff have expertise in helping communities prioritize natural areas for conservation using the Potential Conservation Area (PCA) approach, results of the Landscape Level Wetland Functional Assessment (LLWFA), and other natural resource asset mapping processes. LIAA also has experience working with Great Lakes coastal communities to evaluate coastal management options and help communities adopt policies that protect and enhance their dynamic shoreland areas.
