In 2007, Kim Gallagher from the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission (SWMPC) came to LIAA with an idea for an interactive website to help promote one of Michigan's premiere Heritage Routes: US-12, or Michigan Avenue, which runs across the lower peninsula from Detroit to New Buffalo (and beyond).

The US-12 Heritage Trail website allows editors to provide points of interest and organize them by category and geography. It also provides interfaces for people authorized by SWMPC to submit events, stories, and even locations for the Heritage Route's annual "Michigan's Longest Garage Sale".

Now in it's third version, the US-12 Heritage Trail website continues to welcome and enlighten visitors to the region from around the world.
