LIAA’s UpNorth Media Center hosts and operates the public- and government-access television channels for all of northwest Lower Michigan, from Manistee to the Mackinac Bridge. Participating jurisdictions include the City of Traverse City and the Charter Townships of East Bay, Elmwood and Garfield. Grand Traverse County also televises meetings from six of its commissions.

A total of 321 distinct local government meetings were aired on the Media Center’s GovernmentTV channel in 2015, with more than 180 of those broadcast live, connecting citizens with the democratic deliberations that shape their daily lives. Cable viewers across the 10-county region can catch GovernmentTV on channel 191, and viewers anywhere can tune in online at www.upnorthmedia.org, where at least a year’s worth of meeting recordings are also archived.

Any local jurisdiction can participate in GovernmentTV. For more information, contact your local officials or call LIAA’s UpNorth Media Center at 231-929-4188.
